PETCHABURI PROVINCE OF THAILAND.

           Petchaburi, locally known by Thai as Mueang Petch, is located 160 kilometers south of Bangkok. One of Thailand’s central region provinces, Petchaburi is situated on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Its terrains through out the western border, where Tanaosri Range lies as a natural border between Thailand and Myanmar.  Petchaburi is an ancient city with a very long history and very old city  of Thailand.
          The  King Rama IV, V, and VI established their retreats here. They built the three palaces namely Phranakhonkhiri, Phraramrajanivet, Phrarajnives marukathaiyawan in Petchaburi thus, Petchaburi is also known as Mueang Sam Wang (the city of the three Palaces). The province is also well known for its splendid historical park, ancient temples, wonderful beaches and caves, as well as a great variety of local and fresh seafood. Petchaburi also has a popular resort town, “Cha-am” which is the premier beach resort in the province

        How to get there
          By Car from Bangkok:
Drive along Highway No. 35 (Thon Buri-Pak Tho) , total distance is 123 kilometers passing Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram Provinces and then take Highway No. 4 to Petchaburi Province  total distance is 166 kilometers. Alternatively, it is possible to travel via Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi Provinces.
          By Bus from Bangkok:
          There are buses leaving regularly from the New  Southern Bus Terminal in Thonburi for  (ordinary) on the new road, and on the old road (via Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi),  for 2nd Class air-conditioned and  1st Class air-conditioned.           By Bus to Cha-am and Hua Hin:
There are several buses depart from Petchaburi’s city, to Cha-am  41 kilometers and Hua Hin  about 71 kilometers   It takes 60 and 90 minutes to reach the destinations respectively.

       Tour Around Petchaburi and Cha-am
          Samlor (Tricycle car) and taxis (motorcycles) can go anywhere in the center of town for 20 bahts. It is possible to charter one for the whole day for 150 bahts. Shared songthaews (mini bus) cost 6 bahts around town including to and from the railway station.

           By Train from Bangkok:
           Trains leave Bangkok's Hualamphong Station by rapid train,  special express. All these trains offer 1st, 2nd and 3rd class seating except for the  special express (1st and 2nd class only) and the  express diesel railcar (2nd class only) and take about three hours or more  to reach Petchaburi Province and to Cha-Am.

           There is  train service between Hualamphong and Petchaburi to Cha-Am, and there are  3rd class trains daily from Thonburi (Bangkok Noi) Station to Petchaburi and Cha-Am

         ชายหาดชะอำ  เป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติอยู่ห่างจากตัวเมืองเพชรบุรี 41 กิโลเมตร แต่เดิมเป็นเพียงตำบลหนึ่งแต่ภายหลังจากที่หัวหินมีชื่อเสียง ที่ดินบริเวณชายทะเลถูกจับจองหมด เจ้านายและขุนนางสมัยนั้นจึงหาที่พักผ่อนแห่งใหม่   สมเด็จฯ กรมพระนราธิปพันธ์พงศ์ ได้เสด็จมาทรงพบว่าชายหาดชะอำ เป็นชายหาดที่สวยงามไม่แพ้หัวหิน จึงทำให้ ชะอำเป็นที่รู้จักตั้งแต่นั้นมา

         วนอุทยานเขานางพันธุรัต อำเภอชะอำ จ.เพชรบุรี เป็นเทือกเขาหินปูนที่มีความสวยงามเอกลักษณ์ โดดเด่นมองเห็นได้จากริมถนนใหญ่ ทอดยาวตามแนวเหนือ-ใต้ มองดูคล้ายนางยักษ์ (นางพันธุรัต) นอนอยู่ มีโกศอยู่ทางทิศใต้    และมีปฎิมากรรมธรรมชาติที่เกี่ยวข้องกับตำนาน เรื่องสังข์ทอง

         วนอุทยานชะอำ ตั้งอยู่ในท้องที่ตำบลชะอำ อำเภอชะอำ จังหวัดเพชรบุรี อยู่ในเขตป่าสงวนแห่งชาติดอนมะทราง มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 416 ไร่ กรมป่าไม้ได้ประกาศจัดตั้งเป็นวนอุทยานเมื่อวันที่ 4 มีนาคม 2535
